Yukneyeld

The Terraced Fungal Glow

A closed space with a measurable edge holds a single world. Someone built this finite room for a sun and its worlds.

Breathable air fills every direction with no ground beneath it except what floats. Light and heat come from living things that glow instead of a distant star.

Extent
4,620 million kmacross the whole space
Gate Sector
1Dimensional Station
The land of Yukneyeld
01

The Medium

A fungal bloom covers the surface and glows to replace the missing sun.

from Annals of the Fungal Bloom, by Yuchu

The space fills with breathable air in every direction. No ground lies beneath the floating terraces except what drifts there.

Atmosphere
Air flows freely without a floor to stop it.
Light Source
Fungal mats glow to replace the missing sun above the hills.
Power
Ambient power feeds the bloom that covers the land's surface.
02

The Land

Buildings lean into the wind so the fungal mats do not tear loose in storms.

from Account Book of Cold Fuel, by Nawonon

The land is steep hills cut into terraces over thousands of years. Nothing flat is natural on this world.

Wind
A steady wind blows from the east and carries spores over the terraced hills.
Swarm
Swarms of small creatures eat the fungus faster than growth can match their hunger.
03

The Gate

Violence in the D-Station ends with the offender sent back to their own world.

from Sermon on the Wind's Breath, by Boyon

The gate stands in ruins that nobody maintains and it works anyway. Its mouth is wide enough for cargo ships to fly into without touching the frame.

Cost
Passage costs ten credits a head and a thousand a hull to cross the air gap.
Enforcement
A drone meets any arrival carrying a weapon at the threshold of this ruined structure.
Peace
The peace covers violence there but no other harm inside the station limits.
